Distinguished Young Women - York County   


  

The Distinguished Young Women - York County Program seeks to recognize, reward, and encourage excellence among young people in today's society by focusing on the achievements of outstanding high school young women.

Eligibility Requirements 

  • A high school junior during the current school year
  • Graduation from high school the following year
  • A U.S. citizen
  • A legal resident of York County
  • Must have a performing talent

Applicants may not be:

  • Married (nor had a marriage annulled)
  • divorced
  • Pregnant    

 

Traditional Application Form and Procedure:

How to Apply:

  • Download the Application and save it.  
  • Complete the form by providing all the information requested.  No handwritten applications please.
  • When you have completed the application, Print two copies and attach your photo to only one copy.  Head shot preferred.  
  • Mail both copies to Mrs. Nancy Spataro at the address below.  You will receive an acknowledgement that your application has been received. 
  • You cannot save the data typed on the form.  Please print an extra copy for yourself.
  • Finally, the Grade Request Form and High School Transcript procedure below must be followed to officially complete your application.  

Grade Request Form and High School Transcript Procedure  

Download the Grade Request Form found below.  Your Guidance Counselor is required to complete the Grade Request Form and attach it to your Official High School Transcript.  First marking period grades must be included on your transcript. Do not send these two forms until after the first marking period of your junior year is completed.    

Home Schooling Application Procedure:

In addition to the first 5 instructions in the traditional application procedure, Home Schooling applicants must submit the following:

  1. An official transcript from the home schooling agency or school district which will be issuing the high school diploma.  The agency must be approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  2. A course description for each course taken through home schooling.

Students attending cyber charter high schools should follow the instructions for the traditional high school applicant as stated above.

 

Please mail both copies of your application to Mrs. Spataro.  Also, your Guidance Counselor must mail both the Grade Request Form and Official High School Transcript to:

IMPORTANT - The Application, Grade Request Form and Official High School Transcript must be received by Mrs. Spataro by January 23, 2012.
