Carly Henry goes to Harrisburg!!

On October 25, Carly was invited by York County Representative Ron Miller and York County Senator, Mike Waugh to be their guest in the House of Representatives and Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.   This was a very special day, as Mr. Miller presented Carly with an official Citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for her accomplishment for being named Distinguished Young Woman - Pennsylvania.

Carly was honored by both the House of Representatives and Senate and had the wonderful opportunity to address the Senate about her accomplishment and experiences in the Distinguished Young Woman program.  Senator Waugh presented Carly to the Senators with a wonderful  introduction highlighting her accomplishments both at Dallastown High School, Distinguished Young Women - York County, and the Distinguished Young Women - Pennsylvania program.

Carly is honored with a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Citation for being chosen  Distinguished Young Woman - Pennsylvania.  Presenting the Citation on the floor of the House of Representatives is York County Representative, Ron Miller.

What a wonderful evening for Carly, her family and the Distinguished Young Women of York County Committee!!

Carly was named Distinguished Young Woman of Pennsylvania at the state program in Johnstown on Saturday, July 30.  She competed against other very talented and intelligent young women from across the state of Pennsylvania.  In addition to being named Distinguished Young Woman of Pennsylvania, Carly also won awards in Interview, Talent, and Self Expression for a total $5,600 in scholarships.

Carly, a senior at Dallastown High School, will represent Pennsylvania in June, 2012 at the Distinguished Young Women of America Program in Mobile, Alabama.

Congratulations to Carolyne as she was named York County's Distinguished Young Woman on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Carolyne competed for the title along with 27 other contestants from high schools across York County in the 46th annual program.  In addition to the title of York County's Distinguished Young Woman, Carolyne won $12,500 in scholarships. She will represent York County in Pennsylvania's Distinguished Young Women Program in July, 2011 in Johnstown.

Meet Carolyne Henry    

Carly, a junior at Dallastown High School, won the title of York County's Distinguished Young Woman on April 30, 2011.  Carly is a member of the National Honor Society and Ranks in the top 3% of her class.  She is First Place and Reserve Grand Campion in Dallastown High School's Science Fair, and First and Second place in the York County Science and Engineering Fair. In the Dallastown Orchestra, she in Principle second Violinist.  She is also Student Council President at Dallastown High School.

In addition, she is White Rose 4H Secretary, Pennsylvania Sate 4H Horse show Qualifier and Rotary Club of Red Lion-Dallastown Area's Student of the Month.         

Her community service includes participating in York Area Suzuki  "Superbows" Performances at Rocky Ridge Park, White Rose 4H Overnight Trail Ride Leader, Secret Santa Helper, Neigh in the Park, Link Crew Leader, Student Advisory Board, Girl's Overnight Leadership Development Speaker, York County 4H Horse Club Benefit Horse Show, Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils District 8 Conference Workshop Leader.

Her Activities and Interests include Student Council, Teaching Violin, Horse Back riding, White Rose 4H Horse and Pony Club, Orchestra, String Ensemble and Pit Orchestra.

Her talent presentation was a violin solo, "Tambourin" composed by A.E. Gretry.  Carly plans to attend Villanova University with the career goal of becoming a Dermatologist.
