Matt Belanger joined the News 8 team in January 2008. As part of the "8 On Your Side" investigative team, he focuses on delivering well-rounded political coverage and in-depth reporting on government issues.
Matt came to News 8 from KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D. where he worked as a reporter and weekend anchor. While there, he contributed to several newscasts honored by the Associated Press and also earned a Regional Emmy Award for his role in live coverage of a special event.
Matt is originally from the Susquehanna Valley, and glad to be home. He graduated from Central York High School and graduated from Elon University in North Carolina, where he earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast communications with a minor in political science. Matt also studied the development of mass media for a month in Germany.
Matt is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents Association and the Radio-Television News Directors Association. He enjoys volunteering his time with Junior Achievement and supporting the Children's Miracle Network.
